Bowling
The cost to participate in the Hold'em Bowling League is $25 per week. Each week, all players will draw a random lane assignment. The players will then enjoy two games of bowling with the other players from the lane pair. After the two games, all players from the pair of lanes will play one game of No Limit Texas Hold 'Em poker.
For the poker game, each player who went bowling will start with a base of 60 chips. The player can increase the number of chips to play poker with by meeting various milestones through the two games of bowling.
The additional chip allocation is as follows:
Each strike or spare - 1 chip
Total pins over average (POA) per game:
1-10 POA - 1 chip
11-20 POA - 2 chips
21-30 POA - 3 chips
31-40 POA - 4 chips
41-50 POA - 5 chips
51-60 POA - 6 chips
61-70 POA - 7 chips
71-80 POA - 8 chips
81-90 POA - 9 chips
91-99 POA - 10 chips
100 + POA - 15 chips
For example: If a player has a 150 average, and bowls 163 in his/her first game (with 2 strikes and 1 spare), s/he would earn 2 chips for his/her 13 pins over average (POA), plus 3 chips for his/her strikes and spares for a total of 5 chips. If his/her second game is 177 (with 1 strike and 3 spares), s/he would earn 3 chips for his/her POA plus 4 chips for his/her strikes and spares for a total of 7 chips. So, to play poker, s/he would have his/her base 60 chips (which all players get) plus 5 chips from his/her first game plus 7 chips for his/her second game resulting in a total of 72 chips to play poker with that night.
The pins over average format allows all bowlers a balanced playing field in terms of earning additional chips. Bowlers with a higher average will not have an advantage over bowlers with a lower average.
Actual chip allocation could vary depending on the number of league members or other factors.
Additional opportunities to earn chips could be earned while bowling such as the play of any card games, any inter-league team competition, and/or bowling achievements (example: split spare). Any bonus chip allocation and value will be documented on the weekly score sheet.
League members are also allowed to individually award or gamble chips (up to the base of 60 chips) while bowling. Verbal agreements or offers of chips, so long as witnessed by at least one other league member, shall be considered valid.
If a player does not earn at least ten (10) bonus chips during bowling, the player will automatically be bumped up to 70 chips for bowling.
This league will follow normal rules of 10-pin bowling unless it has been deemed by the players, in the best interests of the league, to do otherwise.
League members may bowl-off earlier in the week and submit a picture of their games (including game summary or score showing all strikes and spares). Bowl off scores will be used for standard bonus chip allocation (strikes, spares - including split spares, pins over average), but may not be eligible for all additional chip opportunities.
If a league member is not available to bowl, or does not bowl-off, he or she may still participate in the weekly poker game. The player will start with the base of 60 chips plus a bonus 10 chips for a total of 70 chips. The league member will pay $15 to play. Participation in the poker game will count towards weekly attendance.
If a league member is not available to play poker, he or she may still participate in the weekly bowling. Bonus chips awarding during bowling will be forfeited. The league member will pay $15 to bowl. Participation in bowling will count towards weekly attendance.
After all players have completed their two games of bowling, each player will calculate his/her chip allocation and prepare to play one game of No Limit Texas Hold 'Em poker.
